This Clay Pot Butterfly Is So Cute!

This little clay pot butterfly is so adorable and looks so cute when you put her by your indoor plants. She just seems to belong there among the plants.

clay pot butterfly Supplies you need
  • 2 inch clay pot
  • 1 ½ inch wood bead
  • Foam sheets (available at craft stores)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Artificial flowers
  • acrylic paint
  • Thin wire
Paint the clay pot and the head whatever colors you would like. Let dry completely and then paint the face. This is where is gets fun because you can make your clay pot butterfly have any kind of expression that you want. I made mine a smiling face.

With your scissors, cut out the wings from your foam sheets. You can use felt for the wings but you would need to stiffen them with wire.

Glue your wire into the hole on top of the head and curl the ends to make them look like feelers. Glue the wings on the back. Attach one pipe cleaner to each side of the top of the pot behind the head for the arms.

Make a little circle to the ends of the arms and glue the flowers on them. Glue little beads, flowers or whatever you would like on the bottom of the pot. You can use any colors you like on the butterfly. Bright colors seem to make him a very happy clay pot butterfly.

There are so many animals you can make with terra cotta pots. Just use your imagination.

Just take your time and your creativity will show through your own designs. Have fun making your own clay pot crafts!!

If you have found a unique way to use clay pots or have any tips and want to share it please contact me and I will add it here. Also, if you have any questions I will try and answer them or find someone who can.
