Recycled Crafts For Kids From An Old T-Shirt

Recycled crafts for kids can come from any old thing around the house. In this project we use any old t-shirts that the child has grown out of.

You may have to help them with the sewing. Kids can make t-shirt pillows for themselves or as a special gift for Mom or Grandma. Kids usually have a favorite t-shirt and have outgrown them so let them make a pillow. They love them when they have pajama parties. Each child could have their own pillow.

These t-shirt pillows are so easy to make. All you need is an old t-shirt, some filling and needle and thread (I used my sewing machine).

Start by sewing the bottom of the shirt and the arm holes. I stuffed mine with a craft fiber fill that I purchased at a craft store. Gently stuff the shirt through the neck opening until it is nice and plump. I then sewed the neck opening closed. For my girls I sewed ribbons on them and they looked very nice.

You can decorate them in many ways. If you have a t-shirt without any design on it, let your kids paint a picture on them. Be sure that you use an acrylic paint for cloth. You would be surprised at what the kids will come up with. They really like this craft because they can personalize them anyway they want.
