Learn How To Make Your Own Intarsia Pattern

An Intarsia Pattern is very easy to make. There are many patterns on the market. I have made a lot of them and they are beautiful and fun to make.

After you have done Intarsia for a while you come to the point where you want to try something different. That is where you can make your very own Pattern.

All you need to do is decide what the design should be. I love doing flowers or to make a scene inside a picture frame.

intarsia pattern After you have in mind what you want, try drawing it on a piece of paper. You can either free hand the picture or find a design of a flower that you like. Copy it onto a piece of paper and then decide where you want to make your breaks in the design. I always make individual petals on flowers as well as the stamen. You can make the stamen really stand out by lifting it a little bit with a small piece of plywood underneath it.

Once you have your pattern done you will need to have some copies made. If you want the design bigger you can also have it enlarged at your local print shop. After you have the copies made cut them apart and glue them on your wood and finish your masterpiece as you normally would any other Intarsia.

If you have any questions or Pattern ideas please contact me and I will add it to my site.
