Make Your Own Potpourri

I will show you how to make your own potpourri. Potpourris have three main ingredients.

1. Blossoms, leaves and seed of plants for your bulk, color & scent.

2. At least one essential oil that will provide extra, intense fragrance and

3. A fixative that holds the perfune of the plant materials and oil.

Potpourri Basic Dry Potpourri Recipe

4 Cups dried flowers and herbs.

1 to 3 tbs crushed spices

2 to 4 tbs orris root

10 to 20 drops essential oil

General Instructions: After your flowers are dried, add your favorite essential oil to the mix. Keep it in a closed container for a few weeks to allow scents to penetrate plant material. Stir or shake the mixture daily.

You can make your own out of just about any flower. Everyones favorite seems to be roses. Try to make some with lavender flowers, geraniums, violets, delphinium or any variety of flowers or herbs.

Just try experimenting with different scents and dried flowers & herbs and you will soon come up with your favorite.

If you have any questions or would like to offer any of your own ideas to share please contact me and I will add it here.
